Our mission is to advance the development and application of AI, DS, and ML in The Gambia by fostering a vibrant community, promoting knowledge and awareness, building local capacity, influencing national AI policy, and supporting research and innovation.

Our vision is to transform The Gambia into a leading hub for AI innovation and expertise in Africa, where individuals and organizations actively contribute to and benefit from AI advancements, driving socio-economic development and technological progress in the region.

— Our Story

AI-GAMNET was founded with the aim of consolidating the gains made in growing the AI community in The Gambia. Since 2019, we have successfully organized Deep Learning IndabaXs (DLIXs), which are national versions of the main Africa-wide Deep Learning Indaba (DLI) conference. The DLI is the largest annual gathering of AI/DS/ML enthusiasts on the African continent, and our DLIXs have been pivotal in experimenting with ways to grow and strengthen the national AI community.
